The prospective residents of Gyeongnam Earthville Decent Apartments have asked the city for help with large-scale defects discovered during the pre-inspection process. In particular, those who have discovered serious defects, such as water leaks in the underground parking lot, have requested cooperation, expecting the city to mediate and take strong measures.

Mayor Lee Sang-il visited the apartment site twice in December last year to confirm the severity of the defects and demanded thorough repairs from the construction company, Gyeongnam Enterprise. The mayor took the lead in protecting the rights of prospective residents by stating a strong stance that “if the defects are not repaired, I will not approve the inspection.”

The prospective residents expressed their gratitude for the market’s active intervention and mediation and donated money. Prospective residents Kim Gwang-ho said, “I was very anxious and disappointed because of the defects, but I felt relieved thanks to the city’s help,” and “I will continue to express my opinions until the defects are repaired to the satisfaction of the prospective residents.”

The mayor said, “It is regrettable that prospective residents are experiencing inconveniences due to defects even before they move in,” and emphasized, “We will use this incident as an opportunity to establish the principle that poor construction will never be tolerated in Yongin going forward.”

Currently, the city is discussing measures to repair defects based on the results of safety diagnosis companies selected by the prospective tenants’ council and construction company Gyeongnam Enterprise. Since all defects must be repaired before approval for use inspection according to the Housing Act, thorough inspections and measures are expected to be carried out.
