YouTube has introduced a new settings feature that allows creators to use their videos to train artificial intelligence (AI) models. However, the default setting is disabled, meaning videos will not be used for AI training unless the creator gives separate consent.

Creators can choose which companies they want to allow AI training through opt-in in YouTube Studio, and can choose from 18 major companies, including AI21 Labs, Adobe, Amazon, and Apple, or the All Companies option. This feature can be changed at any time, and creators can decide for themselves whether to provide data to external AI companies.
YouTube says this feature is limited to external AI companies, and Google plans to use some content to train its own AI models under existing contracts. Unauthorized scraping is still prohibited.
YouTube also hinted at the possibility of creators being compensated for training AI, but did not disclose specific details.
Meanwhile, YouTube is testing a voice reply feature in comments to better connect with fans. The feature is currently only available to some iOS users in the United States, and allows them to record their voice and post it by tapping the soundwave icon in the comment.
Creators will receive notifications about this setting in YouTube Studio within the next few days.
