2025 Adult Literacy Education Support Project, the First Step Towards the Digital Age

The Ministry of Education announced the 2025 Basic Plan for Adult Literacy Education Support Project, and expressed its intention to expand literacy education to digital and living areas to support educationally disadvantaged groups. Literacy is an essential basic ability in modern society, and literacy education guarantees individual rights and contributes to enhancing national competitiveness.

This year, digital literacy education and daily literacy education will be significantly strengthened. Through this, illiterate and low-educated adults can develop the capabilities necessary for daily life, such as how to use digital devices, financial literacy, and safety education. The new ‘Hangul Sunshine Bus’ program will provide customized digital literacy education by visiting areas with low access to education.

In addition, a self-diagnosis system will be introduced that allows learners to self-diagnose their basic literacy and digital literacy skills. Through this, learners can receive recommendations for courses that are appropriate for their level.

The Ministry of Education continues to support a system that allows low-educated adults to have their elementary and middle school education recognized through literacy education. Approximately 27,000 people have had their education recognized through this process so far.
