Ulsan Library announced that it will reorganize and operate the ‘Book Price Refund Project’ from January 7, 2025. This project, which was first launched in 2020 to simultaneously revitalize local bookstores and reading culture, has received great responses from citizens every year.

The Book Refund Program is a program that refunds the purchase price of books purchased with Ulsan Pay if they are read within 4 weeks and returned to a designated public library. In 2024, there was no limit on the number of books that could be applied for, up to 2 books per month, but it ended early in October due to active participation from citizens.
In 2025, the refund policy was changed to allow more citizens to benefit. Up to 2 books per month and up to 6 books per year can be refunded per person, and a total of 22 libraries will participate as return locations. In particular, the Ulsan Jonggatjip Library in Jung-gu, which opened in October 2024, was added as a return location, further improving accessibility.
An official from the Ulsan Library said, “The book refund project provides citizens with an opportunity to purchase and read books, and also contributes to the revitalization of local bookstores,” and added, “We expect that more citizens will be able to benefit this year due to the adjustment of the annual refund limit.”
The way to participate in the project is simple. Citizens need to purchase books at a local bookstore, read them within 4 weeks, and return them to a designated public library. More information can be found on the Ulsan Library website ( https://library.ulsan.go.kr) .
This policy change is part of efforts to simultaneously promote reading culture in Ulsan City and revitalize the local economy, and we expect active participation from many citizens.
