Acting Mayor of Asan City, Cho Il-kyo Discusses Mutual Development with Hyundai Motor Company Asan Plant Manager

Acting Mayor Cho Il-kyo of Asan City met with Park Se-guk, head of the Hyundai Motor Company Asan Plant, at the city hall on the 13th to discuss ways for mutual growth between the region and the company. This meeting was held on the occasion of the visit of the newly inaugurated Park Se-guk to the city hall last month, and a wide range of topics were discussed, including the rapidly changing trends in the automobile industry and ways to cooperate to revitalize the local commercial district.

In the interview, Acting Chairman Cho Kwon-gyu said, “I sincerely congratulate you on your inauguration,” and added, “I hope that 2024 will be a year in which Hyundai Motor Company’s Asan plant makes even greater progress.”

In response, Factory Manager Park said, “Asan Factory has been able to establish a solid position up to now thanks to the city’s continued interest and support,” and added, “We will continue to grow as a company that contributes to the region.”

The meeting discussed international affairs, changes in the automobile market, and the business direction of Hyundai Motor Company’s Asan plant. In particular, cooperation measures for revitalizing local commercial districts, which the city is currently focusing on, were the main agenda items.

Acting Mayor Cho Kwon-gwan emphasized, “Asan City is making every effort to revitalize the local commercial district by cooperating with public institutions, companies, and related organizations to help small business owners who are struggling due to the economic downturn,” and “I hope that Hyundai Motors, as a company representing the region, will also actively participate.”

Regarding this, Factory Manager Park stated, “Since the end of last year, we have been actively encouraging gatherings in local commercial districts,” and “Asan Factory’s social contribution budget will also be used to revitalize local commercial districts.”

Hyundai Motor Company’s Asan Plant is a large-scale automobile production plant established in 1996, with approximately 4,000 workers working on a site measuring approximately 1.8 million m2.

It produces approximately 300,000 vehicles per year, including the Sonata, Grandeur, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 9, as well as engines such as the Nu, Theta, and Lambda, and is Hyundai Motor Company’s main production base.

Through this interview, Asan City is expected to strengthen its cooperation with Hyundai Motor Company’s Asan Plant and take a step further toward revitalizing the local economy and achieving mutual growth.
