Advances in artificial intelligence (AI), conversational computing, and augmented reality (AR) are predicted to enable communication with AI assistants without using voice or hand gestures within the next 10 years. This technology is called ‘augmented mentality’ and aims to enable AI to read the user’s context and provide digital superpowers.
Louis Rosenberg, founder of Unenemy AI, predicted in an article published on VentureBeat on the 5th (local time) that context-aware AI will revolutionize human interaction. He is well known as a pioneer of early augmented reality (AR) technology, and explained that the way AI and users interact will evolve in three stages.

First, we predicted that this year, AI smart glasses will be used for context-based interactions. Smart glasses will provide information by recognizing objects or situations that the user is looking at. For example, if you look at a store and ask about its opening hours, it will provide an immediate answer. This is possible because AI shares the user’s field of vision and context.
By 2030, technology will be introduced that recognizes lip muscle movements without the need to use your voice. This will ensure privacy and enable effective communication even in noisy environments.
By the end of the decade, 2035, AI will be able to read human muscle signals so minutely that it can understand our intentions just by thinking about them. This will allow users to interact with AI simply by giving commands in their head.
This technology is expected to go beyond simple information provision and greatly change human daily life. For example, AI will immediately inform you when you cannot remember the name of a colleague at work, provide calorie and price comparisons of items at the supermarket, and read other people’s facial expressions to recommend conversation strategies, etc. AI will play a role in helping users make everyday decisions.
Rosenberg calls this “digital superpower” and emphasizes that AI smart glasses and wearable devices will become essential tools. “People who don’t have AI assistants will be left behind,” he said, predicting that most people will use this technology by 2030.
Already, Meta, Google, Samsung Electronics, and others are jumping into the development of smart glasses. This can be interpreted as a move to prepare for the advent of the augmented mentality era. Rosenberg warned of the dangers that this technology will bring, and emphasized that companies and governments should establish regulations to prevent misuse of the technology.
Augmented mentality is gaining attention as a technology that breaks down the barriers between humans and AI and provides a new form of digital superpower. By 2035, interactions with AI assistants are expected to go beyond simple conversations and reach a stage where they read the user’s thoughts and actions and respond accordingly. This is an opportunity to revolutionize human life, but at the same time, it is a challenge that requires consideration of ethical issues.
