Incheon Jung-gu (District Mayor Kim Jeong-heon) announced on the 16th that it will expand the ‘Emergency Safety and Reassurance Service for Senior Citizens Living Alone and the Disabled’ to the entire Jung-gu starting this year.
The emergency safety and security service, which is being jointly operated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Incheon Jung-gu, is a system that quickly detects emergency situations such as fire, gas, and falls in the homes of the elderly and the disabled, and connects to 119 to support immediate response. In particular, fire and gas detectors and activity detectors installed in the home are activated, and when an emergency occurs, they are operated in a way that supports emergency rescue along with a 119 report.
Jung-gu plans to expand the service scope to 12 dongs in all of Jung-gu, Incheon by 2024 to build a tighter welfare safety net. Last year, the project was carried out targeting 5 dongs in Jung-gu, and starting this year, it will be expanded to all administrative dongs, further strengthening the emergency safety net. The number of new targets is expected to reach 300 households, and installation will begin on January 16 and intensive support will be provided for about a month.
The service is available to vulnerable groups such as the elderly living alone and the disabled aged 65 or older. The households can apply at the administrative welfare center in their place of residence. If selected as a service recipient, they can receive support to respond immediately in an emergency situation through the installed equipment.
