Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 14th that it will provide free color consulting from experts when repainting the exterior walls of apartment complexes in the city. This project, which was created to improve the city’s appearance and create harmony with surrounding areas according to the 2035 Yongin City Landscape Plan, targets 596 apartment complexes.

Yongin Special City, where 75% of its citizens live in apartment complexes, has decided to provide free consulting services using color experts, believing that the repainting of apartment complex exteriors has a significant impact on the city landscape. This is to reduce cases where the city’s appearance is damaged by indiscriminate painting, and to create a pleasant city image that is in harmony with the surrounding environment.
The target of this consulting support is 596 apartment complexes that have been completed. Apartment complex residents’ representative councils or management entities are required to repaint the exterior walls every eight years according to the long-term repair plan, and during this process, they can receive expert advice on color design.
To apply, download the application form from the Yongin City Hall website (www.yongin.go.kr), fill it out, and submit a consulting request including a design draft to email (nyahong@korea.kr).
The city uses experts such as landscape committee members to comprehensively review the location, scale, use, and surrounding environment of the building, and then suggests basic directions for color design such as primary, secondary, and accent colors. The results of the consultation will be provided in writing within 13 days of application.
This project is expected to contribute to systematic management of the urban landscape in accordance with the 2035 Yongin City Landscape Plan and to achieving harmony with the surrounding environment during the repainting process. In particular, through expert advice, residents will be able to choose color designs that do not harm the urban landscape, which is expected to help create a pleasant living environment.
City officials said, “By providing free consulting on color design when repainting apartment complexes, we will be able to improve the cityscape and provide a pleasant environment for residents,” adding, “We hope that many apartment complex residents will utilize the advice of experts and participate in creating an urban landscape with excellent color harmony.”
