Songpa-gu will be issuing a total of 10 billion won worth of ‘Songpa Love Gift Certificates’ on the 15th. This is a 2.5-fold increase from last year’s Lunar New Year, and was prepared to encourage consumption by residents and support local small businesses during the extended Lunar New Year holidays.
‘Songpa Love Gift Certificates’ can be purchased at a 5% discount from the face value. For example, if you purchase a gift certificate worth 500,000 won, which is the maximum purchase limit, you only have to pay 475,000 won. The purchase limit per person is 500,000 won, and the holding limit is 1.5 million won.
Purchased gift certificates can be used at approximately 15,000 Seoul Pay affiliated stores in Songpa-gu. Users can reduce their household burden by purchasing gift certificates at a discount, and can even enjoy an additional 30% income deduction benefit. In addition, there is no payment fee when using gift certificates, which contributes to the management stability of local small business owners.
Gift certificates can be purchased through the smartphone application ‘Seoul Pay Plus’. A former official said, “Since there is a possibility of a large number of users accessing the store on the day of sale, it is advantageous to download the app, sign up for membership, and register payment information in advance.” The gift certificates are valid for five years from the date of purchase, and the places of use and other details can be checked on the app.
Songpa-gu expects that this gift certificate issuance will help ease the burden of residents’ shopping carts amid the high prices during the Lunar New Year holiday and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by promoting consumption.
Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “I hope you prepare for a bountiful holiday with Songpa Love Gift Certificates during the extended Lunar New Year holiday,” and added, “We will continue to pursue various projects that will provide practical help to households and revitalize the local economy.”
Songpa-gu is creating a virtuous cycle structure that supports the local economy by providing practical benefits to residents through the issuance of gift certificates during special times such as holidays.
