‘Monthly Book Club’ Overview

The ‘Monthly Book Club’ run by Aram Nuri Library was created to provide citizens with opportunities to broaden their horizons and communicate through reading. The program selects one book each month and conducts a reading discussion, and the discussion is led directly by author So Jae-woong.

The first meeting will begin at 7:30 PM on January 22nd in the Aram Nuri Library lecture room, and the first book selected is Igarashi Dai’s essay “Going to Ask the Deaf Mother.” This book is a story based on the life of a deaf mother, and it is expected to provide deep insight into the farming community and encourage discussions from various perspectives among the participants.

How to participate and apply

The program is conducted for 15 Goyang citizens every month, and is operated in a format where participants read selected books in advance and participate. Applications for participation are available two weeks before the start of each month’s session on the Goyang City Library Center website (www.goyanglib.or.kr).

Expected effect

Aram Nuri Library official said, “We planned this program to provide an opportunity to organize one’s thoughts, understand other people’s perspectives, and experience new perspectives through a book,” adding, “We hope that many citizens interested in reading and discussion will participate.”
