Goyang Special City will operate the children’s reading club ‘Go! Book Club’ in 15 libraries starting in January 2025 to increase children’s interest in reading and foster a sense of community. The program will provide various reading activities such as reading discussions, copying challenges, and meetings with authors for elementary school students in grades 3 to 6.

Goyang Special City announced that it will operate the children’s reading club ‘Turtle Club’ in 15 libraries in the city starting in January 2025 to spread a reading culture among children. This program was planned to increase elementary school students’ interest in reading and foster a sense of belonging and cooperation through community activities.
‘Turtle Club’ is conducted by selecting age-appropriate books for children in grades 34 and 56 of elementary school. The program plans to provide children with an in-depth reading experience through creative and practical reading activities such as reading discussions, web magazine writing, and copy challenges.
In particular, a special meeting with Kim Hye-jeong (author of “Time Gene”) and Jin Hyeong-min (author of “Why Why Why Club”), two notable authors in the children’s literature world, is scheduled for June, which is expected to provide a valuable literary experience to participating children.
The operating schedule is divided into the third and fourth Saturdays of each month by library. On the third Saturday, it is held at ▲Nobbit Library ▲Deok-i Library ▲Aram Nuri Library ▲Juyeop Children’s Library ▲Pungdong Library ▲Hanmoe Library ▲Hwajeong Library ▲Hwajeong Children’s Library. On the fourth Saturday, it is held at ▲Gajwa Library ▲Madu Library ▲Modang Park Small Library ▲Samsong Library ▲Siksa Library ▲Ilsan Library ▲Haengsin Children’s Library.
Applications for the program will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting from 10:00 AM on January 2nd through the Goyang City Library Center website (www.goyanglib.or.kr). However, applications for the Modang Park Small Library will be accepted separately through a Naver form.

Goyang City officials said that this ‘Turtle Club’ will be an opportunity for children to experience the joy of reading and develop creativity and critical thinking, and asked for the interest and participation of many children and parents.
