Goyang City Ilsandong-gu Health Center Dementia Care Center will expand the target of dementia screening test cost support regardless of income starting in 2025. It will support up to 80,000 won in screening costs and provide screening tests and on-site tests for early detection of dementia free of charge. Through this, it plans to strengthen the system for early diagnosis and treatment of dementia patients throughout Goyang City.

The Dementia Care Center of Ilsandong-gu Public Health Center in Goyang City announced on the 17th that it will expand the scope of dementia screening test cost support. Previously, only residents with an income of 120% or less of the median income were eligible for support, but starting this year, all residents will be supported with a portion of the test cost regardless of their income level. The maximum amount of support is 80,000 won.
The Dementia Care Center is conducting free dementia screening tests for local residents to help with early detection and treatment of dementia. Tests are conducted at public health centers, and on-site tests are also conducted at senior centers and welfare centers for residents who have difficulty moving.
If you are diagnosed with ‘cognitive decline’ or ‘mild cognitive impairment’ in the dementia screening test, dementia will be determined through the first stage (neuropsychological examination) and the second stage (specialist examination) of the diagnostic test. Patients confirmed with dementia can receive a differential examination in conjunction with a cooperative hospital in Goyang City, and the cost of the differential examination will be supported through this project expansion.
Differential examination is a detailed examination to determine the cause of dementia, and includes brain imaging (MRI, CT) and blood tests. Through this, the type of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s dementia or vascular dementia, can be specifically diagnosed.
An official from Ilsandong-gu Public Health Center said, “This expansion of support for dementia screening examination costs is a measure to strengthen the continuous diagnosis system that involves early detection of dementia patients and screening, diagnosis, and differential examination,” adding, “Through this, we will reduce the burden on dementia patients and their families in the region and continue to provide systematic management and treatment support.”
