Goyang Special City published the 2024 Environmental White Paper, transparently disclosing the environmental status, policy achievements, and future vision to citizens through it. In particular, a separate environmental white paper for children was produced to inform citizens of the importance of environmental protection and encourage citizen participation in advancing toward a sustainable city.

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 9th that it has published the 2024 Environmental White Paper. The Environmental White Paper is prepared and published every two years in accordance with Article 9 of the “Goyang City Basic Environmental Ordinance,” and contains information on the overall environment of Goyang City.
This white paper includes the current status of major environmental indicators in Goyang City, such as air, water quality, and ecosystem, major environmental projects and policy achievements over the past two years, and major environmental policies and plans to be implemented in the future. Through this, Goyang City aims to inform citizens of the importance of environmental issues and transparently share its efforts to become a sustainable city.
Key Contents
The 2024 Environmental White Paper contains the following key contents:
Environmental Status Analysis: In-depth analysis of major environmental indicators such as air pollution, water pollution, and ecosystem changes in Goyang City.
Performance Report: We have summarized the main achievements of environmental conservation projects and policies promoted by Goyang City over the past two years.
Future Plan: The city of Goyang will present a blueprint for sustainable development by disclosing to citizens the environmental policies and plans it plans to pursue in the future.
Production of Children’s Environmental White Paper
Goyang City has produced a separate environmental white paper for children to raise environmental awareness of future generations. The children’s environmental white paper is composed of pictures and stories to help children easily understand environmental issues. Through this, it focuses on helping children realize the importance of environmental protection and develop a sense of responsibility for the environment.
Encouraging citizen participation
This environmental white paper can be viewed by citizens in electronic document form on the Goyang City Hall website. Through this, citizens are expected to have a greater understanding of the environmental status and have the opportunity to participate in city administration in various ways.
City officials said, “The Environmental White Paper is an important means of transparently sharing Goyang City’s environmental policies and vision with citizens,” and added, “We hope that many citizens will take an interest in Goyang City’s environmental policies through the Environmental White Paper.”
Leaping towards a sustainable city
Goyang City plans to use the publication of this environmental white paper as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in solving environmental problems and to promote various policies to achieve sustainable development. Through this, the city plans to conserve the environment together with its citizens and leap forward as a sustainable city.
