The 140m section of Ttukseom-ro 36- ga-gil changed its traffic system from two-way traffic to one-way traffic . In addition , road markings were improved and new traffic safety signs were installed .
In the case of Ttukseom-ro 40- gil , the sidewalk width was expanded from 1.2m to 2m to secure pedestrian space . In addition , work was carried out to lower the sidewalk boundary for the convenience of the elderly, disabled, and other vulnerable road users . The 95m resident priority parking zone was abolished , which reduced the risk of collisions between pedestrians and vehicles and improved the road environment .
This project began by reflecting the residents’ ongoing complaints and inconveniences . Jayang 3 -dong is a residential area surrounded by apartment complexes , and inconveniences such as resident-priority parking areas and narrow sidewalks have been continuously raised . To resolve this, Gwangjin-gu actively collected residents’ opinions from the design stage in 2023 , and completed construction in January of this year with an investment of approximately 162 million won .
A resident of Hanjayang 3 -dong said , “ I used to feel anxious and uncomfortable every time I passed by here because of the cars parked in the resident priority parking area and the cars traveling in both directions, but I feel relieved now that the road has been widened and cleaned . ”
Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho said, “ We have transformed an area that was inconvenient and had a high risk of accidents into a safer and more comfortable street, ” and added , “ We will continue to do our best to create a pedestrian environment where all residents can walk with peace of mind . ”
