Incheon Gyeyang-gu (Mayor Yoon Hwan) announced that all three traditional markets in the district were selected for the 2025 Traditional Market and Shopping District Revitalization Support Project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Incheon Metropolitan City, securing a total budget of 1.13 billion won.

With this public offering selection, Gyeyang-gu plans to further strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets by promoting customized support projects that fit the characteristics of each market, including Gyeyangsan Traditional Market, Gyesan Market, and Jakjeon Market.
Gyeyangsan Traditional Market, which was selected for the digital traditional market development project, will receive up to 400 million won in support over two years to begin full-scale digital transformation, including online entry, product development, and consulting. This is expected to be the starting point of a change in which traditional markets will actively utilize non-face-to-face and online platforms, going beyond the existing operating method centered on face-to-face sales.
The Gyesan Market will create a safe environment from fire by installing old gas facility storage boxes and automatic fire extinguishers through the safety management package support project. In addition, the evaporative cooling device installation project will provide a comfortable environment for both merchants and visitors by reducing the temperature in the market and removing fine dust.
The operational market and the calculation market were also selected for the installation of buried fire hydrants, which will enable quick initial response in the event of a fire and create a safer market environment.
In addition, all three traditional markets in Gyeyang-gu will be selected for the market management package project, which will provide support for the labor costs of managers and delivery personnel, and will promote management innovation and substance by operating merchant associations, training merchants, and conducting various events.
Mayor Yoon Hwan said, “In order to strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets and create a market environment that satisfies both residents and merchants, we will continue to discover and promote various projects that reflect the characteristics of each market.”
