Incheon City Choir has been invited to perform at the ‘7th Indonesia Bandung Choral Symposium’, the largest choir festival in Asia. This performance is an opportunity for Incheon City Choir to introduce the excellence of Korean choir to the world, and will be held at the Gator Diktatra Theater of the Bandung Institute of Science and Technology, Indonesia.
Performance Schedule
– Opening performance: Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 17:00
– Special Performance: Thursday, January 23, 2025, 20:00
– Demonstration choir performance: Friday, January 24, 2025, 10:15, 14:45
The first stage will feature ‘De profundis’ and ‘Somewhere’, which showcase Korean and world-famous choral pieces. The following performances will feature Indonesian traditional music and diverse pieces including ‘Teen Un Das (Dawn and Dusk)’ by American composer Ken Stephens. In particular, the last stage will be an exciting choral time with the audience, and will convey the energy of the Incheon City Choir.
This festival is an important event that promotes exchanges between Asian and global choirs and discusses the artistic value of choirs. Incheon City Choir is expected to use this invitation as an opportunity to raise the international status of Korean choirs. Indonesian officials evaluated that “this performance will be an important event that confirms Incheon City Choir’s capabilities and promotes friendship between countries.”
Founded in 1981, Incheon City Choir has established itself as a central figure in the domestic and international choral world by participating in the International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM) and the Association of Choral Festivals (ACDA). This performance will be an opportunity to once again confirm the Incheon City Choir’s strength on the Asian stage following 2024, and will be an important moment to announce a new leap forward for Korean choral music.
