Incheon City Jung-gu announced that it will launch the ‘Kakao Notification Talk Local Tax Refund Application Guide Service’ on the 9th to provide taxpayers with easy guidance on local tax refunds.
‘Local tax refunds’ are amounts that taxpayers overpaid during the tax payment process, and examples of this include automobile tax and registration tax refunds. Jung-gu explained that in the past five years, there were 3,182 cases of local tax refunds that taxpayers did not claim, amounting to approximately 100 million won.
In addition to the existing postal guidance method, Jung-gu has introduced a new ‘Kakao Notification Talk Local Tax Refund Application Guidance Service’ to enable taxpayers to apply for refunds more quickly and easily.
This service delivers refund notices to taxpayers via KakaoTalk, and allows them to click on the link to complete the refund application after verifying their identity. This allows for easy application using a smartphone without a separate visit. In addition, when taxpayers make inquiries, a representative provides real-time consultation via KakaoTalk to help resolve their questions quickly.
Kakao Talk Notification Service has strengthened security by encrypting personal information, and a system has been established to protect sensitive information related to refunds. In particular, for taxpayers who have difficulty accessing mobile devices, the existing postal notification service will also be operated in parallel.
