Incheon Michuhol-gu announced on the 10th that it achieved first place in the evaluation of the ‘Incheon City Living Waste Reduction Target Management System’ and secured a subsidy of 273 million won.
The ‘Household Waste Reduction Target Management System’ is a system in which Incheon City sets household waste reduction targets for each county and district in accordance with the ban on direct landfill in the metropolitan area starting in 2026, and provides financial support according to the degree of goal achievement.
Michuhol-gu has been promoting various policies to reduce household waste. In particular, it was the first in Incheon to introduce a selective disposal and item-specific separation system to increase the recycling rate, and it established a system to recycle waste vinyl that is thrown away mixed in volume-based waste bags.
In addition, the district actively promoted convenience for residents to separate and recycle waste in their daily lives by operating a recycling store and installing unmanned PET bottle collection machines (smart recyclers).
In addition, through a collaborative project with Incheon Metropolitan City, we are continuously providing resource recycling education to residents and strengthening publicity to improve residents’ awareness of recycling separation and waste reduction.

The Michuhol-gu District Mayor said, “The reduction of household waste is an achievement that the district and residents have made together,” and added, “We will continue to continuously improve residents’ awareness and achieve our goals of reducing waste by discovering and implementing various reduction policies.”
