'Naerimaru Cultural Shelter' to be operated on a trial basis before its official opening

A new complex cultural space for local residents, ‘Naerimaru Cultural Shelter’, has begun trial operation. The Incheon Jung-gu Cultural Foundation announced on the 7th that the space is scheduled to officially open in March.

‘Naerimaru Cultural Shelter’ was built on the site of the ‘Incheon Gamriseo Site’, a historical site at the Incheon Port. Incheon Gamriseo was a government office that was in charge of administrative and trade affairs during the Korean Empire, and is a historical site where Baekbeom Kim Gu was imprisoned for resisting the Japanese.

Based on this history, Jung-gu, Incheon created a new complex cultural space by combining the place name ‘Naeri’ from the port opening period and the Korean word ‘Maru’ meaning top or hill. The Naerimaru Cultural Shelter, designed as a single-story building with a total floor area of 1,358.7㎡, was created as an open space where anyone can enjoy culture and art and take a rest.
