Incheon City’s Namdong-gu announced on the 14th that it is recruiting dementia-friendly pharmacies to help dementia patients and their families live with peace of mind .
Dementia-friendly pharmacies are pharmacies that actively participate in building a tight dementia safety net in the local community. They will carry out activities such as caring for dementia patients and their families , reporting and providing temporary care to wandering dementia patients , providing dementia information and medication guidance , and linking with dementia-friendly centers when necessary .

Currently, a total of 50 pharmacies in Namdong-gu have registered as dementia-friendly pharmacies, and the district is supporting the registered pharmacies with dementia-friendly pharmacy signs and promotional materials .
The district recently held an information session for members of the Pharmaceutical Association at the regular general meeting to recruit dementia-friendly pharmacies .
In addition , to ensure that dementia patients and their families do not experience any inconvenience in using pharmacies, the general meeting attendees were educated on improving dementia awareness and how to respond to dementia patients by occupation ( pharmacy ) .
Mayor Park Jong-hyo said , “ Since most dementia patients are elderly people with chronic diseases, the role of dementia-friendly pharmacies that are frequently used by dementia patients is important, ” and added , “ I hope that the operation of dementia-friendly pharmacies will make Namdong-gu a place where everyone is happy . ”
