Applications for the Citizen Farm will be accepted from February 3rd to the 14th, and anyone registered as a resident of the city can apply.
This year’s recruitment areas consist of 760 general distribution teams and 40 special distribution teams targeting families with many children, multicultural families, families with disabilities, and families of national heroes. In addition, 15 box garden teams for the disabled with limited mobility were recruited to expand participation opportunities.
Citizens who wish to apply can visit the Yongin Citizen Farm office (554 Gomae-dong, Giheung-gu) or apply through the Gyeonggi-do Shared Service (https://share.gg.go.kr/index) website.
The recipients will be selected through a random drawing and announced on the Agricultural Technology Center website on February 20. The selected recipients must complete the pre-training, sign the performance agreement, and pay the 30,000 won allotment fee.
The allotted gardens can be cultivated for approximately eight months from the end of March to the end of November. Through this, participants can enjoy the experience of farming in the city by working the soil and growing crops themselves.
City officials said, “Yongin Citizen Farm provides a special opportunity for city residents to experience agriculture,” adding, “We hope that citizens can get closer to nature through gardening, take care of their health with fresh produce they harvest themselves, and promote harmony among family members.”
Yongin Special City recruits urban farmers every year through its citizen farm, continuously providing opportunities to experience nature and feel the value of agriculture in the city.
