The Sejong Special Self-Governing City Sojeong-myeon Community Social Security Council (Co-chairs Kim Gwang-tae and Kim Han-sik) practiced the value of sharing by conveying warm hearts to needy neighbors in the region on the 16th at the Sojeong-myeon Administrative Welfare Center to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Warm donations from local residents

The voluntary participation of the local community was remarkable in this ceremony. Kim Seong-tae, the head of Undang 2-ri, Sojeong-myeon, Bae Dong-pil, the head of Sojeong-myeon Rice Farmers Association, and Lee Byeong-du, the chairman of Sojeong-myeon Development Committee, donated 600 kg of rice that they had personally grown. Resident Kim Geun-moon added a helping hand by donating 50 10-kg bags of rice.

Delivering holiday gifts to 100 vulnerable households

The Sojeong-myeon Community Security Council delivered 1.2 kg of Korean beef to 100 vulnerable households, including basic livelihood security beneficiaries and the near-poor class, through the designated donation project of the Sejong Community Chest of Korea. These holiday gifts sent warm messages of comfort and support to neighbors and reminded them of the meaning of Seollal.

Continuous efforts to practice sharing

Kim Han-sik, the chairman of the Sojeong-myeon branch of the association, said, “Holidays are a time when we miss family ties,” and added, “It’s a small gift, but I hope it will be a comfort to our neighbors in need. We will continue to actively share in the future.”

Kim Gwang-tae, the head of Sojeong-myeon, said, “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the council members and residents who have taken the lead in sharing welfare in the local community,” and added, “I will continue to work with the council to create a warm Sojeong-myeon where no neighbors are left out.”

A model case of welfare sharing with the community

This sharing activity in Sojeong-myeon is a meaningful case that was achieved through cooperation between local residents and the council, providing practical help to neighbors in need and creating a warm Seollal atmosphere. Sojeong-myeon plans to continue various activities to share the warmth of the local community in the future.
