Songpa-gu, Seoul will hold the ‘Songpa Film Festival for Children and Youth’ until February 23rd. This film festival will screen 11 films from the Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival (BIKY) and will be held free of charge at Songpa Geulmaru Library, Songpa Children’s Library, and Songpa Youth Center.

Songpa-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Kang-seok) has prepared a special cultural experience for children and youth during the winter break. The ‘Songpa Film Festival for Children and Youth’ will be held until February 23.
This film festival showcases excellent works submitted to the Busan International Kids & Youth Film Festival (BIKY), and is being held for the first time this year. The films screened consist of a total of 11 films, including 8 foreign feature films and 3 domestic short films.
◆ Introduction of major screenings
The opening film is Dutch director Sander Burger’s *My Guardian Angel*, a fantasy-like piece that explores the lives of illegal immigrants through the story of a Senegalese girl. In addition, a variety of films of various genres and themes, including documentaries, animations, and comedies, await children and young adults.
◆ Screening locations and participation methods
The film will be screened at ▲Songpa Geulmaru Library Forest Theater ▲Songpa Children’s Library Muldonggrami Theater ▲Songpa Youth Center Main Auditorium. You can check the screening schedule on the Songpa-gu Integrated Library website and participate, and all Songpa-gu children, youth, and guardians can watch for free.
◆ Special Events
On January 18th at 3 PM, a special audience interaction (GV) event will be held at Songpa Geulmaru Library. After the screening of <Oh Yeslow>, the grand prize winner of the <2024 Songpa Youth Film Festival>, there will be a time for a conversation with the director and actors, allowing for an in-depth discussion about the film.
◆ Strengthening cultural cooperation
For this film festival, Songpa-gu signed an agreement with the Busan International Kids & Youth Film Festival (BIKY) in December of last year. Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to respond to the era of low birth rates and jointly promote various cultural projects for youth.

Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “I ask for your interest and participation in the ‘Songpa Children and Youth Film Festival,’ which is being held for the first time this year,” and added, “In the future, Songpa-gu will go beyond being a good city to raise children and create an environment where children and youth can grow up happily through various cultural and artistic infrastructures.”
