Songpa-gu, Seoul announced that it will run the ‘Songpa-gu Museum Outing’ program for children and families visiting during winter vacation until February 28.
This program, which began in 2009 and is now in its 32nd year, is a cultural and artistic experience certification program created in collaboration between Songpa-gu and major museums in the district, and is very popular every summer and winter vacation.
This year, a total of 7 exhibition halls are participating, including ▲The Gallery Lake ▲Songpa Book Museum ▲Hansung Baekje Museum ▲Soma Art Museum ▲Lotte World Folk Museum ▲Seoul Baekje Children’s Museum ▲Korea Advertising Museum.
In particular, The Gallery Hosu, which opened in November of last year, has attracted a lot of attention, exceeding 30,000 visitors in just two weeks of opening. Along with the exhibition of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art’s Art Bank collection, an exhibition of three artists with strong colors is being held here.
The Songpa Book Museum has exhibitions and experience programs based on books, while the Seoul Baekje Museum and the Seoul Baekje Children’s Museum offer historical experiences based on Baekje and prehistoric times. The Soma Art Museum exhibits various sculptures, the Lotte World Folk Museum introduces traditional culture, and the Korea Advertising Museum presents interesting exhibitions centered on public service advertisements.
The participation method is a stamp tour where you visit 7 exhibition halls, participate in the exhibition program, and receive a confirmation stamp on the ‘appreciation activity sheet’. You receive an appreciation activity sheet at the first place you visit, and a certificate of completion at the last place you visit. This certificate of completion can be used as a school vacation assignment, so it has high educational value.
Detailed information on exhibitions and experience programs can be found on the official website of each exhibition hall or by phone. Lotte World Folk Museum and Soma Art Museum require admission, but the rest of the exhibition halls are free to visit.
Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok said that this program will be a good opportunity to enjoy culture and arts without having to go far during the cold winter, and that he will prepare various programs in the future so that anyone can easily experience culture and arts.
