Ongjin County issued a nationwide ‘Influenza (Flu) Epidemic Warning’ from midnight on December 20, emphasizing the importance of compliance with respiratory infectious disease prevention guidelines and influenza vaccination to residents and urging them to respond actively.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the influenza epidemic warning was issued due to exceeding epidemic criteria. Recently, the number of suspected patients has increased nationwide, with 8.6 patients per 1,000 outpatients reported, and the government and local governments are making all-out efforts to prevent the spread of the outbreak.
Ongjin County recommended the following behaviors as guidelines for preventing infectious diseases: wash your hands thoroughly after going out, follow cough etiquette, and wear a mask in public facilities. In addition, in closed spaces, ventilate for more than 10 minutes every 2 hours, and if you have a fever or respiratory symptoms, visit a medical institution and receive appropriate treatment. In particular, it emphasized that high-risk groups such as the elderly over 65 years of age, pregnant women, and children must be vaccinated.
Influenza vaccinations are currently provided free of charge, and Ongjin County residents can receive vaccinations at nearby public health centers or designated medical institutions. In particular, the county has improved the existing reservation system to increase accessibility to vaccinations, allowing residents to receive vaccinations more conveniently.

Park Hye-ran, the head of Ongjin County Health Center, said, “There is concern over the possibility of additional infectious diseases due to the influenza epidemic,” and added, “Please thoroughly follow the respiratory infection prevention guidelines and get vaccinated to have a safe winter.”
