Applications will be accepted starting January 13th, and any group or organization of three or more residents or residents living in Seongdong-gu can participate. The contest will be divided into five categories: △Neighborhood Neighborhood Creation △Support for Sprout Community Activities △Support for Fruit Community Activities △Support for Community Media △Support for Activation of Community Spaces.
45 resident groups will be selected and receive support ranging from a minimum of 1 million won to a maximum of 3 million won. Applications for the contest will be accepted until February 7th, and can be submitted via email or in person to the Seongdong-gu Community Support Center.
In particular, the ‘Village Community Competition Project Briefing Session’ to be held at the Seongdong-gu Office Main Hall at 2:00 PM on January 14 will provide detailed information on the purpose of the project and how to write a proposal to residents who wish to participate in the competition. Any resident can attend, and it is expected that more neighbors will be able to participate through this.
Last year, 45 projects on the topics of care, environment, and community media were successfully carried out in Seongdong-gu. Residents contributed to building a community by solving problems on their own, and activities such as the ‘Generation Integration Community Yard’ broke down the barriers between generations and created a warm village.
Seongdong-gu Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, “The village community contest plays an important role in helping residents solve their own village problems and improve their quality of life.” He also pledged, “We will continue to listen to the diverse voices of residents and work hard to create a Seongdong-gu that is a good place to live.”
This public contest is even more impressive and meaningful because it provides an opportunity for residents to take the lead in solving village problems and creating a village where people can live together.
