As Gyeonggi Yangju-si faces new challenges with the fastest population growth among cities and counties in northern Gyeonggi-do, it is responding quickly with the goal of revitalizing the local economy and increasing convenience for citizens by activating public transportation.
On the 13th, Yangju City held an opening ceremony for the ‘8300 Intercity Bus’ connecting Yangju and Namyangju and began full-scale operation. With around 30 people in attendance, including Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyeon, Gyeonggi Provincial Council members, public officials, and civic representatives, on-site communication activities such as boarding the first bus and checking the transfer system continued.
Mayor Kang Soo-hyun encouraged the crew members and emphasized the importance of a citizen-centered transportation policy, saying, “The opening of the 8300 intercity bus will play an important role in reducing citizens’ inconvenience in commuting to and from work and increasing accessibility to Seoul and the metropolitan area.”

[‘8300 Metropolitan Bus’ route with added convenience]
The ‘8300 metropolitan bus’ departs from Yangju Deokjeong Depot and passes through major areas such as Deokjeong Station, Hoeam Elementary School, and Dietre Prestige before reaching Namyangju Byeollae Station Metropolitan Transfer Center. It operates a total of 35 times a day on weekdays and is equipped with amenities such as a smart ventilation system, USB charger, and Wi-Fi.
This line connects with Byeollae Station Line 8, which opened last year, allowing quick travel to Jamsil and Gangdong-gu, and when the GTX-B line opens, accessibility to the western part of Seoul and Incheon is expected to improve significantly.
A citizen expressed his anticipation for the opening, saying, “Commuting has become much easier thanks to the alternative route that relieves the congestion on G1300.”
[Yangju City’s efforts to innovate transportation]
Yangju City is pursuing a multifaceted transportation policy to meet transportation demands due to population growth.
The recently introduced ▲customized ‘Smart Bus’ for citizens ▲the first route in the western region, ‘1304 Metropolitan Bus’ ▲the expansion of ’05 Seoul Donghaeng Bus’ and ▲the increase of ‘G1300’ are all part of these efforts.
In particular, efforts are being made to build a public transportation system centered on citizen convenience, such as expanding public taxi services for residents of transportation-deprived areas and negotiating with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to resolve the problem of taxi shortages during late-night hours.
[Leap forward to become a future transportation hub city]
Mayor Kang Soo-hyun announced various plans, including extending Subway Line 7, promoting GTX-C and B lines, introducing shuttle trains, and implementing a semi-public bus system, saying, “We will develop Yangju into a transportation hub city that will open a renaissance in public transportation.”
Yangju City is expected to establish itself as a transportation hub city in northern Gyeonggi Province by establishing a sustainable transportation system in the future and providing convenient and fast transportation infrastructure centered on citizens.
