Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) held the entrance ceremony for the ‘2025 8th Yongin City Core Leader Course’ at Myongji University’s Creation Hall on January 13th and began full-scale training for 27 6th-grade public officials. This course aims to strengthen the leadership and job competency of mid-level managers and foster core talents who will lead the future growth of Yongin Special City.

Yongin Special City held the 8th entrance ceremony for the ‘Core Leader Course’ designed to strengthen the capabilities of mid-level managers at Myongji University’s Creation Hall on January 13. This course, which began in 2018, is a long-term education program targeting 6th-grade public officials, which are mid-level managers. This year, 27 people were selected and will receive various training until December 19.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by around 50 people, including Vice Mayor Ryu Gwang-yeol, President Lim Yeon-soo of Myongji University, and trainees. In his welcoming speech, Vice Mayor Ryu Gwang-yeol said, “I hope that this course will be an opportunity for trainees to broaden their horizons and gain confidence in various areas, including their jobs,” and urged them to “grow into key leaders who will lead the rapid development of Yongin Special City.”

President Lim Yeon-soo of Myongji University said, “This program, which Myongji University and Yongin City are creating together, is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of the local community,” and emphasized, “The school and faculty will do their best to provide students with a practical and beneficial time.”

This course is composed of not only essential professional education for public officials such as administrative studies and local autonomy laws, but also a variety of programs such as leadership, public service values, humanities, and self-development. This course provides trainees with the opportunity to simultaneously strengthen their expertise and leadership as mid-level managers.

The Core Leaders Course began in 2018 to foster public officials as leaders within the organization and as talents who can lead the administrative development of Yongin Special City. The public officials selected each year complete in-depth courses necessary for administration and leadership, and play an important role in leading the city’s changes and innovations.

Deputy Mayor Ryu Gwang-yeol said to the trainees, “I hope that you will take this opportunity to reflect on yourself and reaffirm your calling and role as a public servant,” and “I hope that the knowledge and capabilities you have acquired through the training will serve as a foundation for the development of Yongin Special City.”
