Yoo Seung-min elected as the 42nd President of the Korea Sports Council

Bucheon City congratulated Seungmin Yoo, the city’s public relations ambassador and former International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes’ Commission member, on being elected as the 42nd President of the Korea Sports Association.

Chairman Yoo graduated from Ojeong Elementary School and Naedong Middle School in Ojeong-gu, Bucheon-si, and was selected as the youngest national table tennis representative in his third year at Naedong Middle School. After that, he won the gold medal in the men’s singles at the 2004 Athens Olympics, establishing himself as a hero of Korean table tennis. He served as the president of the Korea Table Tennis Association and an executive member of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), gaining abundant sports administration experience, and has contributed to raising the status of Bucheon City as a public relations ambassador since 2019.

Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik said, “I sincerely congratulate the election of Yoo Seung-min, our eternal table tennis hero and city ambassador, as the president of the Korea Sports Council. I believe that he will lead a new leap forward in Korean sports with his unrivaled competitive spirit.”

He also added, “As the former chairman of the Bucheon City Table Tennis Association, I will work harder to develop the Bucheon City sports community.”
