Continued operation of ‘free brokerage service’ for low-income residents

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) is continuing to operate the ‘Free Brokerage Service’ this year to ease the financial burden of low-income residents and ensure housing stability. This service is a project that supports brokerage fees incurred when signing a monthly rent contract for vulnerable housing groups such as recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, elderly people living alone, single-parent families, and the disabled.

Jungnang-gu was the first in the country to institutionalize and implement the free brokerage service provided by the Korea Association of Certified Real Estate Brokers in 2009, and in 2020, it raised the support criteria from KRW 75 million to KRW 100 million for the monthly rent deposit. Accordingly, the target of support was significantly expanded, and the number of households receiving support has tripled since implementation.

The free brokerage service can be applied for at any time throughout the year without a special application period. After signing a monthly rent contract, if you report your move to the local community center, the public official in charge will check whether you are eligible for support and provide a brokerage fee of up to 300,000 won. In addition, the district conducts operational status checks every first and second half of the year and thoroughly manages payment details and whether there are any double receipts.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, the mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope that the free brokerage service will be of real help to low-income residents, and we will continue to prepare various support measures to ensure housing stability for residents.”
