Asan City (Acting Mayor Cho Il-kyo) announced on the 13th that the Shinjeongho Garden was officially registered as the ‘First Local Garden of South Chungcheong Province’ according to the ‘Act on the Creation and Promotion of Arboretums and Gardens.’
In order to be registered as a local garden, certain requirements must be met. It must be a garden created by a local government, have an area of at least 10 hectares, and at least 40% of the total area must be green space. In addition, a dedicated garden management department must be established, and infrastructure such as parking lots, experience facilities, and convenience facilities must be provided. A local garden operation and management ordinance is required. If these requirements are met, the city or provincial governor can designate and register it.

The Shinjeongho Garden is approximately 238,648㎡ (approximately 72,200 pyeong) in size, and consists of six themed gardens with a water garden as the main concept, centered around a 33,543㎡ key development area completed in November of last year. These themed gardens consist of the Welcome Garden, the Four Seasons and Color Garden, the Daraengi Garden, the Water Garden, the Breeze Hill Garden, and the Dry Garden, providing visitors with a variety of things to see and a healing space.
Currently, Shinjeongho Garden is temporarily open, and the official opening ceremony is scheduled to be held in April. Asan City plans to fully open Shinjeongho Garden through the opening ceremony and establish it as a representative local garden in Chungcheongnam-do.
Acting Asan Mayor Cho Il-kyo said, “The registration of Shin Jeong-ho Garden as the first local garden in South Chungcheong Province is very meaningful to both Asan City and South Chungcheong Province,” and “We will do our best to attract many tourists through extensive promotion in conjunction with the 2025-2026 Visit Asan Year, and thereby contribute to the revitalization of the local economy.”
Shinjeongho Garden is a space in harmony with nature that provides rest and relaxation to local residents and tourists, and is expected to emerge as a new landmark in Asan City.
