Bucheon City announced that, as the hepatitis C antibody test is introduced in the national health screening for those aged 56 and over in 2025, it will accept applications for a refund of the cost of the test if the subject is found to have suspected hepatitis C in the national health screening and undergoes a confirmatory test [excluding (upper-level) general hospitals].

The support amount is provided only once for the purpose of encouraging early diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C.
The full amount of the cost of the confirmation diagnostic test is supported.
The application method is ▲(Online) Government 24 website (www.gov.kr) – Subsidy 24 – All benefits – Search for ‘Hepatitis C confirmation test fee support’ and apply, or ▲(Offline) Visit the Infection Control Department of Bucheon City Health Center and fill out and submit the application form. The application deadline is March 31 of the year following the year in which you received the national health checkup.
Hepatitis C is a Class 3 statutory infectious disease, and is transmitted through blood or body fluids infected with the hepatitis C virus. Once infected, most people develop chronic hepatitis. The average incubation period is 6 to 10 weeks, and symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, and muscle pain may occur, and it can progress to severe liver disease. There is no preventive vaccine, but it is possible to cure it with treatment, so it is important to detect the infection early through health checkups and receive timely treatment.
City officials said, “In the case of hepatitis C, there are many cases where there are no symptoms, so if it progresses to chronic infection, it can worsen into severe liver disease,” and “With the support for hepatitis C confirmation test costs, hepatitis C infection can be detected early and treated.”
