Incheon City is working with Hanwha Hotels & Resorts to promote a large-scale project to create a theme park using the Metropolitan Landfill Riding Club. The project aims to simultaneously protect the environment and revitalize the local economy, and is scheduled to be completed by 2027.
The existing riding arena in the metropolitan landfill needed improvement due to low utilization and lack of ways to utilize the facility. Accordingly, Incheon City signed a business agreement (MOU) with Hanwha Hotels & Resorts to revitalize the riding arena, and plans to create a comprehensive tourism facility, including a theme park and aquarium, centered around this space.
The main business plan is to utilize the site to build a 240,000㎡ horseback riding facility, with 170,000㎡ for an aquarium and theme park and 70,000㎡ for a horseback riding facility. Considering the environment, we will cooperate with the Capital Area Landfill Management Corporation to promote development that reflects the needs of the environment and residents. The completion goal is to complete and start operation of the theme park by 2027.
This project is expected to achieve both environmental improvement and local economic revitalization. Incheon City predicted that this project will provide new leisure space for local residents and support a healthy living environment.
