‘Mobile health education’ is the core program of the ‘Hyo Sarang Health Doctor Project’, a visiting health management project that Seongdong-gu has been operating since 2017. This project provides comprehensive health services such as medical consultation, chronic disease management, blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, and dementia prevention and management to senior citizens over 65 years of age and health-vulnerable groups in Seongdong-gu.

In particular, this health education will be conducted by Hyosarang health doctors and village nurses who will visit 3-4 senior centers every month and focus on topics necessary for the elderly, such as osteoporosis, well-dying, prevention of seasonal infectious diseases, and frequent urination. The first education this year will be held on January 20th at the Geumho 3-ga Senior Center (Jangteo 1-gil 3) with the theme of ‘Osteoporosis Management and Well-dying.’

The curriculum focuses on helping seniors practice healthy lifestyle habits in their daily lives and improve the quality of their lives in old age. In addition, seniors who need continuous care during the health education program can register as care recipients in the Hyosarang Health Doctor Project and receive regular home visits and customized welfare services.

Through this program, Seongdong-gu is improving the ability of the elderly to manage and prevent chronic diseases in the era of hyper-aging, while providing seamless welfare services within the local community.

Seongdong-gu District Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, “As we enter a super-aging society, self-directed health management by seniors is becoming more important,” and added, “Through ‘mobile health education,’ we will actively support seniors so that they can enjoy a happy and healthy old age in their residence while enhancing their capacity to manage and prevent chronic diseases.”
