Mayor Kim Dong-geun of Uijeongbu met with the new president of Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital, Song Hyeon, at the mayor’s office on January 6.
Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital held a ceremony to celebrate the start of the new year and the 3rd and 4th hospital directors’ inauguration on January 2nd, and at this event, Director Song Hyeon took office as the 4th hospital director. Director Song is a medical professional who specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, and has served as a professor of thoracic surgery at Seoul Asan Medical Center and Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as the vice president of clinical affairs at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital and Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital and the director of business planning at Eulji University Medical Center.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said during the interview, “Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital plays an important role in treating emergency patients with cardiovascular disease and pediatric emergency patients in the northern Gyeonggi region,” and “I urge you to make even greater efforts to minimize the medical gap and provide regional complete medical services.”

Since its opening in 2021, Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital has established itself as a key hospital for emergency patient treatment in northern Gyeonggi Province. In particular, in 2024, it participated in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Severe and Emergency Cardiovascular Disease Treatment Cooperation Network Project and was designated as a Gyeonggi Province pediatric emergency medical institution, contributing to the treatment and recovery of emergency patients.
