According to this announcement, Ulsan City has allocated a total budget of KRW 212.3 billion, an increase of KRW 43.6 billion from last year. Through this, 19 major projects will be promoted in five key areas, including strengthening the foundation for economic growth, securing global competitiveness of key industries, fostering new growth energy industries, developing cutting-edge new industries, and activating smart agriculture.

First, in order to establish a solid foundation for the local economy, we will establish integrated governance through a public-private joint meeting. This reflects efforts to quickly resolve difficulties in the corporate field and turn crises into opportunities even in uncertain economic situations. In particular, technological innovation centered on the eco-friendly transformation of the petrochemical industry and decarbonization of the shipbuilding industry are considered key strategies.

Ulsan is continuing various efforts to establish itself as a center of the hydrogen industry. Ulsan has already been selected as the first hydrogen pilot city and hydrogen city in the country. This year, we will fully promote a hydrogen city development project worth approximately 53 billion won. In addition, we will build a floating offshore wind farm to lay the foundation for clean energy production and carbon neutrality.

It is also noteworthy that new growth industries are fostered for global competitiveness. Ulsan City operates a secondary battery specialized complex and plans to establish an advanced secondary battery integrated support center in the techno-industrial complex. This center will provide research and demonstration equipment and joint research space, and promote the development of innovative technologies. In addition, Ulsan City is creating an environmentally friendly industrial ecosystem through the development of carbon dioxide capture and storage technology.

Smart agriculture and marine and fisheries sectors are also positioned as other growth axes of the local economy. Ulsan City is innovating the future agricultural environment through a smart farm development project for young farmers. At the same time, it plans to revitalize the fishing village economy by improving the infrastructure of Ilsan Port in Dong-gu and Pyeongdong Port in Ulju-gun.

Ulsan Metropolitan City plans to make this year a turning point for the leap forward of the local economy and continue its efforts to establish itself as a center of the global industrial ecosystem. The new changes that Ulsan will show will be an important example that will lead not only the local economy but also the future of the national industry.
