Dongducheon City (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 14th that it has solidified its position as an excellent local government nationwide in the evaluation conducted by central government ministries and various organizations in 2024.
Dongducheon City has been recognized for its administrative capabilities by achieving consistent results in various fields including administration, finance, education, safety, and welfare.
In particular, it has proven that it is realizing transparent and trustworthy administration by receiving the highest grade in the ‘2024 Comprehensive Information Disclosure Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. In this evaluation, it received full marks in five indicators, including the number of cases of advance information disclosure registration and the faithfulness of original text disclosure.

It also achieved excellent results in financial management. In the ‘2024 Local Finance Analysis and Evaluation’ by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, it received the highest grade in the improvement category, and recorded a consolidated fiscal balance ratio of 4.42% (national average -1.27%) and a non-working ratio of 2.08% (national average 6.55%), demonstrating sound and planned financial management capabilities.
In addition, it was selected as the best organization in the first half local government finance execution evaluation, raising the speedy execution rate to 61.3%, and exceeded its target in the consumption and investment sectors, contributing to the revitalization of the people’s economy.
The environmental sector also showed remarkable achievements. Dongducheon City was selected as the best local government for three consecutive years in the ‘2024 General Waterworks Operation and Management Status Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Environment. The expansion of water supply to vulnerable areas and the support project for improving old water pipes were cited as major achievements.
In addition, it has shown outstanding achievements in various fields such as △2024 Korea Lifelong Learning City Good Policy Award △2024 Intensive Safety Inspection Excellent Organization Selection △Good Design Award Brand Design Category Excellent Industrial Design Product Selection.
In addition, the local brand value was enhanced by achieving outstanding results in various fields, such as being selected as an excellent local government for the National Mind Investment Support Project, receiving the Minister of Public Administration and Security Award in the balanced development project best practice category, being selected as an excellent organization for winter road snow removal evaluation, and receiving the Prime Minister’s Award for data-based regional revitalization project.
Mayor Park Hyung-deok said, “This achievement is the result of the efforts of both citizens and public officials,” and added, “We will continue to implement an administration that citizens can feel and create a more developed Dongducheon City.”
