Seodaemun-gu will hold an event to celebrate the lifting of the public transportation-only zone at Yonsei-ro at Sinchon Star Plaza on January 25. The event will be held from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM and will consist of various celebratory performances and performances.
The event will first begin with a performance by singers Mont, Mongdol, and Anywhere Project. This will be followed by a ‘Touch Button Ceremony to Declare the Lifting of the Public Transportation Exclusive Zone’ with the participation of local residents and merchants.
The next program is a ‘New Year’s Blessing Sharing Performance’ where the audience exchanges greetings while passing around large balloons. Through this, participants can share warm feelings and wish each other New Year’s wishes.
Additionally, Nora Jo, Kim Bo-kyung, Cyberger, DJ Sepho, and 4X4 CREW will add excitement to the event with their spectacular performances.
Yeonsei-ro was designated as a transit-only zone in Seoul in 2014, but was lifted in January of this year. Merchants and residents near Yeonsei-ro in Sinchon have been consistently demanding the lifting of the transit-only zone to revitalize the commercial district, and the commercial district was actually revitalized during the pilot lifting period.

Seodaemun-gu District Mayor Lee Seong-heon said, “The lifting of the public transportation-only zone on Yonsei-ro is an achievement that reflects the wishes of local residents and merchants,” and added, “By improving accessibility to Yonsei-ro, we will further revitalize the commercial district of Sinchon and restore its former reputation.”
Meanwhile, to ensure the smooth progress of the event, traffic along Yonsei-ro will be controlled from 6:00 AM to midnight on Saturday, January 25th.
