Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) announced that it will expand medical expense support to ease the financial burden of residents suffering from rare diseases. With this measure, the number of diseases eligible for support has increased from 1,272 to 1,338, and the income criteria have been relaxed, allowing more patients to benefit.
Through this expansion of support, in addition to existing diseases such as Crohn’s disease, chronic kidney disease (dialysis patients), and hemophilia, 66 diseases such as dyskeratosis and palmoplantar pustulosis have been added. In addition, the income standard has been relaxed from the existing 120% of the median income (130% for children and adolescents) to 140% of the median income for both adults and children, further expanding the scope of support. The medical expense support project for patients with rare diseases is a project that supports out-of-pocket expenses for nursing care, nursing expenses, and special food purchase expenses for patients registered for special calculation cases. In order to receive medical expense support, income and asset standards must be met, and those eligible for support can apply at the public health center.
