Jung-gu, Seoul is recruiting children to use elementary care centers to provide after-school care services from March 2025 to February 2026. The recruitment period is from January 2 to 9, 2025 for 9 in-school care centers and from January 20 to 24 for 8 out-of-school care centers. Applications can be made through the Jung-gu Education Support Center website or by visiting the center.
The target of recruitment is children who are registered residents of Jung-gu or are attending elementary schools in Jung-gu. Existing users must also apply for a new position. In case the number of applicants exceeds the quota, priority will be given to lower grades, single parents (grandparents and grandparents), dual-income families, and multicultural families.
Jung-gu plans to operate 9 in-school care centers and 8 out-of-school care centers in 9 elementary schools, including Hongin Elementary School, Bongrae Elementary School, and Gwanghui Elementary School, and provide care services to a total of 990 children. In particular, the 9th care center, which will be newly operated from January 2025, has already completed recruiting 20 children in December. Additional recruitment will be conducted in case of vacancies.
The care center operates from after school to 8 p.m. during the semester and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during vacations. Children can freely attend the academy during care hours, and parents will receive text messages notifying them of their entry and exit. In addition, nutritious meals and snacks are provided free of charge, and various programs are prepared to reflect the needs of parents and children.
Even in cases where temporary care is needed rather than regular registration, if the guardian has unavoidable circumstances such as a business trip or overtime work, temporary care reservations can be made starting from two weeks before the date of use.
From 2025, to ensure that actual care recipients receive the benefits, center use will be restricted if unauthorized absences exceed 15 days per quarter, and verification of admission documents will be strengthened every six months.
A Jung-gu official said that the elementary daycare center is operating various programs with safety as its top priority to help reduce the burden of childcare for dual-income families, and that they will continue to expand support to make Jung-gu a good place to raise children.
