Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City donated a total of KRW 2,674,400 to the ‘Love Train Relay Movement’, including KRW 2,374,400 in lecture fees received from external lectures this year and KRW 300,000 donated in early December. Since taking office in July 2022, he has started donating all of his external lecture fees to use them meaningfully, and the cumulative donation amount over the past three years has reached KRW 6,869,600.

The mayor said, “Every time I receive a request to give a lecture, I prepare the materials myself and feel a sense of accomplishment in sharing my knowledge. I think it is meaningful to use the lecture fees I receive to help my neighbors in need.”

This market has held about 20 special lectures this year at companies, universities, hospitals, and schools. Major lecture topics include ‘Characteristics of leaders who brought about changes in the world’ at Kangnam University’s Graduate School of International Studies, ‘How to grow into a leader who will take responsibility for the future of the country’ at Dankook University, ‘Humans and life seen through literature and pictures’ at UNIST’s Semiconductor Top Course, and special lectures at Yongin Severance Hospital and Heungdeok Middle School. Most of the special lectures were held in the form of talent donation, and in cases where lecture fees were received, all of the money was donated.

The ‘Yongin City Love Train Relay Movement’, which began in 2002, is a neighborhood help campaign in which citizens, companies, and organizations participate, and collects donations every winter to help neighbors in need. The movement, which began on December 1, 2024, has raised a total of 678.82 million won as of the 27th, achieving 52% of the target amount of 1.3 billion won. The campaign will continue until February 7 next year, and we look forward to the warm participation of Yongin citizens.

Mayor Lee Sang-il said, “I hope that the culture of sharing among Yongin citizens will spread further,” and emphasized, “The Love Train Relay Movement will be a great help to our needy neighbors in the region.”
