The Seongsu 1-ga Je-1-dong Residents’ Autonomy Association in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, delivered special gifts to children from single-parent households in the area ahead of Christmas. On December 20, the Residents’ Autonomy Association practiced the spirit of warm sharing by distributing meat and other food ingredients to a total of 26 households.

This event was planned in consideration of the reality that children from single-parent households have difficulty eating proper meals due to the absence of their parents. The residents’ self-governing council wanted to help children eat healthy meals by providing them with essential protein during their growing years, and make Christmas a more special time.
Kwak Hyeon-suk, the head of the neighborhood council, said, “I am happy that I can support children to have a healthy and happy Christmas,” and added, “This food support has a meaning beyond a simple gift, so we will continue our sharing activities for our neighbors in need in the future.”
One resident who participated in the event expressed his gratitude for the event, saying, “I am grateful that my children can have a warm time eating with their parents.” In fact, the meat gift provided this time played an important role in allowing families to prepare meals together and spend happy times.
Kim Yong-joong, the head of Seongsu 1-ga 1-dong, said, “I hope that the meat gift will go beyond simple material support and become an opportunity to provide children with health and warm family ties,” and added, “I will continue to work to ensure that Seongsu 1-ga 1-dong develops into a neighborhood where everyone can live well.”
This event was a place to show that the warm interest and support of the local community can provide real help to children from single-parent families. The residents’ self-governing council plans to continue to expand these sharing activities.
