Songpa-gu announced that it has built and opened the ‘National and Public Hillstate I-Pyeonhansesang Daycare Center’ in the Hillstate e-Pyeonhansesang Munjeong apartment complex in Munjeong-dong. With this opening, Songpa-gu now operates 109 national and public daycare centers, the largest number among autonomous districts in Seoul.
This daycare center was built with a total project cost of 260 million won (280 million won from the national and municipal governments, and 56 million won from the district government) on a single floor with a total floor area of 752.59㎡. It has a capacity of 95 children and is equipped with 8 daycare rooms, a director’s office, a teacher’s office, a playroom, and a kitchen.
In order to establish a stable childcare environment in newly occupied apartment complexes, the district quickly opened mandatory childcare facilities as public daycare centers in community facilities during the reconstruction and redevelopment project. To this end, a free lease agreement was signed with the apartment complex association in August, and remodeling work and equipment support were completed.
This daycare center has been accepting new students since last November, and is effectively solving the childcare needs in the large complex consisting of 1,265 households in 14 buildings. In particular, it is receiving high satisfaction ratings from residents by providing high-quality childcare services to children through public daycare.
Songpa-gu has been playing a leading role in public childcare since it became the first city in Seoul to exceed 100 public daycare centers in 2020, and has been steadily expanding to currently operate 109 centers.
Songpa-gu District Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “I am glad that the opening of this daycare center has created a childcare environment where parents can leave their children with greater peace of mind,” and added, “We will continue to expand public daycare centers in conjunction with redevelopment and reconstruction projects and do our best to provide high-quality daycare services.”
Songpa-gu plans to continue to expand public childcare infrastructure and provide various customized childcare services in the future with the goal of creating a childcare environment where both parents and children are happy.
