Goyang Special City held the 32nd Deokyang Senior Citizens’ University graduation ceremony and awarded diplomas to approximately 300 graduates. Mayor Lee Dong-hwan promised continued support for the seniors’ happy old age.

On the 18th, the 32nd graduation ceremony of the Senior Citizens’ University affiliated with the Deogyang District Branch (Chairman Jang Do-young) of Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) was held successfully in the main auditorium of the Deogyang Senior Citizens’ Welfare Center.
This graduation ceremony was attended by Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City and 300 graduates, and was conducted in the following order: academic report, awarding of diplomas and citations, and congratulatory speeches by distinguished guests. The graduates received their diplomas and enjoyed the joy of seeing the fruits of their past studies.
The Deogyang-gu branch senior university, established in 1989, has operated various programs to improve the dignity of seniors and their ability to adapt to modern society. Through humanities lectures, singing classes, and cultural tours of the Spring and Autumn Period, it has provided opportunities for seniors to continuously learn and interact.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City, who attended the graduation ceremony, said in his congratulatory speech, “I would like to express my respect and congratulations to the seniors who have graduated,” and “Goyang City will strengthen welfare policies and support so that the seniors can be respected and enjoy a happy old age.”
Dean Yoo Hwan-ik of the Senior Citizens’ University said, “I am delighted that the seniors have graduated today with their passion for learning and continuous participation,” and added, “We will continue to work to ensure that the Senior Citizens’ University becomes an important educational venue that improves the quality of life for seniors.”
Meanwhile, the Deogyang-gu branch’s senior citizen university has produced approximately 9,600 graduates since its first class in 1989 through 2024. Goyang City plans to continue supporting lifelong education for seniors and prepare various programs for a better life in retirement.
