Yongin Special City announced the results of an online survey conducted for six days from the 13th to the 18th on the 24th. Based on the ranking of five news stories selected by citizens and officials out of a total of 29 candidate news stories, the attraction of global semiconductor equipment companies was selected as the top choice. This news story received 2,420 votes, proving that it was an important turning point in establishing Yongin Special City as the semiconductor center city of Korea.

In second place was the news that ‘450 billion won worth of local resources will be utilized in accordance with the agreement between Yongin City and SK Hynix’, which received 2,248 votes. This project attracted the attention of citizens as a project that seeks sustainable development through the utilization of local resources.

Other major news items include ▲ ‘Promotion of Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railway’ (3rd place, 2,054 votes), ▲ ‘Opening of GTX-A Station and Expansion of Linked Transportation Network’ (4th place, 1,933 votes), ▲ ‘Final Approval of Dongbaek IC Construction’ (5th place, 1,292 votes), etc., reflecting expectations for expansion of Yongin’s urban infrastructure.

Mayor Lee Sang-il said, “Yongin’s status as a semiconductor-centered city has been solidified,” and “Following Samsung Electronics’ 360 trillion won investment plan, we have strengthened the semiconductor ecosystem by attracting global companies such as Lam Research, Tokyo Electron, and ASML.” He also emphasized that “development into corporate industrial complexes and residential and cultural spaces will begin in earnest with the lifting of the Songtan water source protection zone.”

Starting next year, we plan to establish a more systematic plan based on these achievements so that citizens can experience real progress. Through these results, Yongin Special City has shown the potential for sustainable growth not only in the semiconductor industry but also throughout the city.
