Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it held a ‘4th Industrial Revolution Investment Briefing’ at the Rise Autograph Collection in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 19th. This briefing was prepared as part of investment attraction activities to promote the development of Ilsan Techno Valley and the designation of Goyang Free Economic Zone.
About 20 promising and leading companies in the 4th industrial revolution from home and abroad attended the briefing session, and Deputy Mayor Lee Jeong-hwa introduced the investment attraction conditions and business status of Goyang Special City. This was followed by an announcement on the development plan for Ilsan Techno Valley and Goyang Free Economic Zone, an exchange of opinions with companies hoping to move in, and a business agreement ceremony.
Second Vice Mayor Lee Jeong-hwa emphasized, “Goyang City has excellent accessibility as it is adjacent to Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport, and is growing into a global, cutting-edge industrial city based on its metropolitan transportation network and excellent living conditions.”
He continued, “We plan to promote the designation of Goyang Free Economic Zone centered on smart mobility, artificial intelligence (AI), aerospace industry, bio/precision medicine, and K-culture industry by utilizing cutting-edge infrastructure such as Goyang Drone Anchor Center and the Korean Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) landing pad that will be built next year.”
He also mentioned that companies moving into Ilsan Techno Valley, which is scheduled for sale next year, will be able to receive support from a wide network and cooperative relationships with local organizations, adding, “If the special opportunity development zone is designated to provide diverse locations, tax benefits, and regulatory exemptions, the leap forward as a global self-sufficient city will be accelerated even further.”
Goyang City was designated as the first venture business promotion zone in northern Gyeonggi Province in October of last year, and designated venture businesses can receive various benefits such as property tax and acquisition tax reductions and development burden exemptions. Through this, the foundation for realizing a self-sufficient city where leading companies and venture businesses can coexist has been laid.
Meanwhile, the Ilsan Techno Valley project, which will be positioned as a key base for the 4th industrial revolution in northern Gyeonggi Province, began construction last October and infrastructure construction is progressing smoothly, with land sales scheduled for 2025.
This investment briefing is expected to be an important stepping stone for Goyang City to leap forward as a global advanced industrial city, and will serve as an opportunity to elicit active participation and cooperation from domestic and foreign companies.
