Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Gil-seong Kim) held the ‘2024 The Joyful Apartment Activation Project Case Presentation’ at the Jung-gu Hall of Jung-gu Office on the 19th and shared the results of the apartment revitalization project that was carried out over the year. This event was a great success with about 100 apartment residents and related parties in attendance.

Jung-gu has been carrying out various support projects every year to revitalize 70 complexes of public housing, which are home to approximately 58,000 people, or 48% of the district’s residents. This year, a total of 9 complexes participated and carried out various activities aimed at promoting communication and harmony among residents.

The case presentation began with awarding certificates of commendation to four outstanding home leaders who contributed to the revitalization of apartment complexes. Afterwards, a video of the home leaders’ activities was watched, and excellent cases from five complexes that participated in the project were presented.

Best practices introduced include ▲’LIG Seoul Station Riga’s <Riga One Heart Festival>, ▲’Namsan Town Apartment’s flea market <Let’s gather together at Noksaeng Market>, ▲’Seoul Station Central Zai’s <Resident Happiness Family Festival>, ▲’Sindang Prugio’s’ children’s musical <Twinkle Twinkle Naraeul>, and ▲’Sindang Raemian Hiber’s <Go with Hiber>.

Based on the real-time evaluations by on-site attendees, the best complex was selected as ‘Shindang Raemian Haiver’, and the excellent complex was selected as ‘Seoul Station Central Zai’. The award-winning complexes will receive a benefit of around 10% increase in support funds when selected for the joint housing revitalization project next year.

In particular, this case presentation emphasized the activities of ‘Homes Leader’, the communication window of Jung-gu’s public housing. As of the end of 2023, 44 Homes Leaders actively participated in various programs such as public housing competition projects and climate environment education, connecting residents and the district office. Homes Leaders have established themselves as a bridge for communication and cooperation among residents.

In the latter half of the event, magician Ahn Young-jin’s pigeon magic show received a great response, and on one side of the venue, a photo exhibition of apartment revitalization projects and a photo zone were set up, providing a variety of entertainment for the participants.

Homes Leader Kim Seon-hee, who participated in the event that day, said, “It was meaningful to be able to have fun while communicating with neighbors,” and “I hope that thanks to the district office’s continued support, communication among residents will become more active.”

Kim Gil-seong, the mayor of Jung-gu, said, “2024 was a year in which we were able to enjoy the joy of harmony and communication thanks to the cooperation between apartment residents and home leaders,” and added, “We will continue to provide various support and efforts so that residents can live in a better environment in the future.”

Meanwhile, Jung-gu is strengthening communication with residents through various programs such as disaster safety education, lifelong learning on site, and health management projects in addition to projects to revitalize apartment complexes. Next year, it plans to actively promote apartment complex revitalization through customized support that reflects residents’ opinions.
