Ulsan City Year-end Festival, the Beginning of a Hopeful New Year

Ulsan City announced that it will hold a year-end and New Year’s Eve event at the east gate of Ulsan Grand Park from 10 PM on December 31, 2024 to the early morning of January 1, 2025. This event is expected to be a place to wrap up the year of Gapjin (甲辰年) and hopefully welcome the year of Eulsa (乙巳年), and it is expected that around 10,000 citizens will participate and create a place of harmony.

The event will be attended by key figures such as Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom and Acting City Council Chairman Kim Jong-seop, heads of organizations, and citizens, and will feature diverse programs such as a year-end concert, Ulsan Grand Bell-ringing ceremony, and fireworks show.

As a pre-event, a ‘Citizen Story Talk Show’ will be held with local cultural and artistic figures, and at the year-end concert, popular singers So Chan-whee, Sergio, and Park Sang-min will perform on stage to wrap up the year and sing songs of hope for the new year.

At midnight, the Ulsan Grand Bell ringing ceremony will begin. Around 30 people, including heads of related organizations and youth representatives, will participate in the bell ringing, ringing the bell 15 times to signal the start of the new year. This bell ringing carries the meaning of wishing for the happiness of Ulsan citizens and the development of the city administration.

In the following multimedia show at the Wish Tower, Mayor Kim Du-gyeom and Acting City Council Chairman Kim Jong-seop will deliver messages of hope for the new year to citizens and celebrate the start of a hopeful year of Eulsa.

On the day of the event, various experiential programs will be prepared in which citizens can directly participate. In addition to the New Year’s family motto writing, wish writing, and fortune sharing events, new events such as a flea market, food zone, life 4-cut photo booth, and wish scale dressing will be added to provide more things to enjoy.

Additionally, the luminaries installed at the Ulsan Grand Park Dongmun Square since the Christmas season will provide citizens with a warm winter feeling, and warm drinks to melt away the cold will also be provided at the event site.

Ulsan city officials said, “This event will increase Ulsan’s pride and become a festival to start 2025 together with citizens,” and hoped that many citizens would attend and have a meaningful time.
