Winner of the '2024 Korea ESG Awards' Local Government Category Grand Prize

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) won the grand prize in the local government category at the ‘2024 Korea ESG Awards’ co-hosted by the Korea ESG Association and Electronic Times, and was recognized for its ESG administrative achievements for a sustainable future.

The ‘Korea ESG Awards’ is an awards ceremony that evaluates the performance of ESG management and practice activities with the goal of a carbon-neutral society and discovers excellent cases. It was held for the second time this year. A total of 44 organizations and individuals were selected as winners, and Jungnang-gu was recognized for its excellent performance by winning the grand prize among the four local governments in the local government sector.

Jungnang-gu has established a foundation for implementing ESG administration by forming an expert advisory group starting in 2023. With the slogan of “Sustainable Future, Jungnang ESG,” it declared a vision for sustainable development that involves the public, private, industrial, academic, and research sectors for the first time among the 8th local governments. In particular, it has been actively implementing a promotion plan based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has been carrying out innovative administration to move toward a sustainable society together with residents.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, the head of Jungnang-gu District Office, said, “This award is the result of the efforts of the residents and Jungnang-gu District Office for ESG administration,” and added, “We will not stop administrative innovation for a sustainable future together with the residents.” Jungnang-gu District Office plans to continue to take the lead in realizing sustainability and ESG values.
