Yeongdeungpo-gu conducted safety inspections of fire-prone facilities such as nursing homes, daycare centers, and traditional markets to prevent fire accidents as the winter season approaches. The inspections were conducted until December 18, and were designed to improve the safety of facilities mainly used by vulnerable groups.
The main items of inspection include management of fire extinguishers and indoor fire hydrants, installation and operation status of sprinklers, evacuation guidance lights and escape routes, management of fire escapes, and status of fire doors. Each facility’s relevant department conducted its own inspections, and joint inspections were conducted with the participation of fire departments and external experts as needed.

This inspection was conducted with the aim of securing maximum safety by prioritizing facilities used by vulnerable groups and facilities with structures that are difficult to evacuate on one’s own. In particular, efforts to prevent fire accidents that frequently occur during the winter season are expected to be effective.
Yeongdeungpo-gu also plans to take immediate corrective action on any deficiencies discovered during the inspection process, implement follow-up measures for major issues, and confirm the results through a re-inspection in the first half of next year.
Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “The most important thing in preventing safety accidents is to remove risk factors in advance,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that residents can have a safe and warm winter through continuous safety inspections and systematic preventive measures.”
Such measures are evaluated as part of Yeongdeungpo-gu’s ongoing efforts to increase community safety and minimize damage caused by fire.
